New Rice Crop In Plymouth

Plymouth may be growing a different kind of crop. 75 acres of genetically engineered rice, will be grown by a biotech company from California. Ventria Bioscience says its goal it so extract proteins from the rice, that could help third world countries lower their death rates due to diarrhea. However, environmentalists aren't happy about it. They say it could affect other crops as well as our own food chain. State-owned land at the Tidewater Research Station in Washington County will grow all the new rice.
