London Bombings, NCSU Connection

A former roommate of the biochemist that police in Egypt are questioning about the London subway bombings recalls him as a very good student. Khaled el-Kamhawy says he lived with Magdy el-Nashar on the western edge of the North Carolina State University campus. El-Nashar was a student at NC State for a single semester in early 2000, studying chemical engineering. El-Kamhawy says he thinks his roommate got straight A's. He remembers el-Nashar as a very good person who was quiet and didn't say much. An official in Cairo says el-Nashar was arrested four or five days ago after British officials supplied his name to Egyptian authorities. After his semester at NC State, el-Nashar moved on to a teaching and research position at Leeds University in England.
