A woman in Tyrrell County lost her life Friday night in a head on collision.
It happened three miles east of Columbia on Highway 64 just before 8:30 Friday night. Investigators tell WITN that 39 year old Sheila Ann Willis of Cherryville, was traveling west bound on US 64 when her vehicle veered left of center and struck another vehicle head on. Willis was air lifted by Eastcare to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. 4 passengers in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries. Sara Hope Banas, and Christina Lynn Atwater are at Pitt County Memorial Hospital where Atwater is in fair condition. One child was treated and released, and another child is still at the hospital recovering, no word on his status or Banas's status either. Highway 64 was shut down in both directions for about an hour as the scene was cleared.
