North Carolina Girl Bitten By Shark In Texas

A 14-year-old North Carolina girl was bitten by a shark off the coast of Texas. Lydia Paulk, who lives near Charlotte, was swimming with family and friends on the Gulf Coast near Galveston, when she was attacked.

Hospital officials in Texas say Lydia has lacerations on the top of her foot, but she's in fair condition. She has had one operation and will have another Friday to repair tendons.

Authorities in Texas say the girl saw a four-foot-long shark swim away after it bit her. They say they think the shark was looking for smaller fish close to shore.
