Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville will be the only hospital in the state to have three helicopters for emergency service. The hospital recently won approval from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to add a third East Care helicopter to its fleet. PCMH currently serves 29 counties with its emergency helicopter service. Program manager Becky Ross says the service not only helps cut down travel time, but also provides patients with the highest level of care. The new helicopter is expected to be added by October.
