A downtown Washington Hotel is about to get a 21st century facelift to go with its brand new name. The former Hotel Louise on Main Street is now simply known as "The George." Renovations are about to begin in a few weeks. Fred Fletcher, operating manager of Progress Partners, says "The George" will not only be a 28-room hotel, but will also house a restaurant, and spa. Fletcher says it's hoped this will bring about other downtown development.
We want to be at the forefront. We want to take the lead. "The George" is expected to open at the same time the newly renovated Turnage Theater across Main Street opens.
