On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
Its just July and the very active hurricane season has emergency managers here in Eastern Carolina on edge.
Onslow County's beaches have nearly recovered from direct hurricane hits. But that doesn't mean this place won't get another visit, like Dennis's hit on the Gulf Coast.
Onslow Emergency Management Director Mark Goodman says preparations for this storm season started back in May with the county checking everything from communications, to the storm shutters on the county's operations center.
But, Goodman worries that close calls and storms hitting other parts of the U.S. coast may have lulled some into a false sense of security. Emergency managers suggest everyone dust off their plans to stay or go not if, but when a hurricane targets our area.
