Pamlico County Man Drowns

Authorities say a Pamlico County man is dead after trying to pull his sinking boat from the water. Officials say 55-year-old Steve Specier jumped into the water off his boat dock between Topsail Drive and White Farm Road after he noticed his boat was partially submerged in the water. After trying to get the boat secured and out of the water, he asked his son to call for assistance. His son went into their home to dial 9-1-1 and came out to find his father floating in the water. Officials Specier was transported to Craven County Regional Hospital where he later died.
