Have the Remains of North Carolina's First Governor Been Found?

Where is North Carolina's first Governor, Richard Caswell, buried? That question is still unanswered. Recently, archaeologists with East Carolina University were asked by Caswell's descendants to unearth two unidentified people buried in one of the family cemeteries. About two weeks ago, a team did just that and traveled with the caskets to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.. Monday, those remains were still being identified. But scientists do say the late Governor was not one of them and officials are still trying to figure out who they are. Anthropologist Charles Ewen says once the remains are identified, they plan to put them back exactly where they found them.
