Why Do They Serve?

On this July Fourth we asked some members of the military why they risk their lives and join the military service.

We spoke with a Marine and a sailor stationed at Marine Corps Sir Station Cherry Point in Havelock. They told us they just felt the need to do their part.

Naval Lieutenant Prescott Palmer says he has always felt the call to serve his country. His father was in the military too.

One interesting note: one of the largest Independence Day celebrations on military bases can be found each year at Camp Lejeune.
