Updated: Thu 9:09 PM, Jun 30, 2005

A part of Greenville's past was officially made part of its future Thursday.

The Greene Street Bridge was originally constructed in 1927 and for a number of years the bridge was the only crossing over the Tar River for local residents.

Seventy five years later the bridge was replaced and taken apart just waiting in town commons to be used again. It has now been put back together again and will serve as a beginning point for the soon-to-be constructed South Tar River greenway.
