The plight of the Plover on the Outer Banks is ruffling some feathers. Here's the deal. Piping Plovers. A threatened species of bird, are nesting on the South end of Hatteras Island. The National Park Service has now once again closed the Southern most half-mile of the island to the public. Some anglers aren't so happy, wanting access to that great fishing area. Experts say the closure is crucial, as there are only an estimated 1400 breeding pairs of Plovers along the entire Atlantic Coast.
