A teenager is under arrest after authorities say he exploded homemade bombs at a country club earlier this month. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has charged 18-year-old Jordan Daniel Pike of Fairview Avenue in Washington with three counts of possession of a weapon of mass destruction. The sheriff's department says Pike was a lifeguard at the Washington Yacht & Country Club and constructed and detonated three acid bombs while on duty at the pool. They also say children and adults were present when the bombs exploded and he showed children how to construct similar bombs. The Centers for Disease Control says an acid bomb is a homemade explosive device made easily from volatile household chemicals. Various ingredients placed in a container cause pressure and eventually explode. The CDC says that explosion can cause injuries even death.
