Local Firefighters Heading Out West

A group of North Carolina Forestry Service fire fighters will soon head out West to help put out several large-scale wild brush fires. Fires like those in Washington State have been burning for several weeks now. Hundreds of fire fighters from all over the country have been battling the flames. Derrick Moore, who is the Pitt County Ranger for the forestry service, says fire fighters from this area will spend two weeks on the fire line before being replaced by another crew. More than 180 wild brush fires are burning in numerous states including Arizona, Utah, California and Colorado.
