Heading to the playground may be one way you're keeping your kids entertained this summer, but on days like Wednesday it may not be such a great idea. That's because the playground equipment can get hot enough to cause burns, according to parks and recreation officials. Playground swings and slides are made out of a composite plastic nowadays, and the plastic can hold a tremendous amount of heat after the sun beats down on them for hours. However, the equipment shouldn't be as hot during the early morning or late afternoon.
