A Shooting And High Speed Chase Lands Two In The Hospital

A shooting, a high speed pursuit and the capture of a suspect. It all happened around 7:40 tonight in Jacksonville. Jacksonville's Deputy Chief of Police David Ship says officers were called to a shooting at Liberty Crossing Apartments off Henderson Drive. On the way, officers spotted the suspect driving down Highway 17 in a red Camaro. When they tried to pull him over, a high speed chase ensued lasting for about six miles into Onslow County. Authorities say as the Camaro was approaching McMillan Furniture near Dawson Cabin Road, the suspect jumped out of his speeding car and rolled several hundred feet. The Camaro then went through the parking lot of the furniture store, flew through a wooden billboard and into another parking lot and smashed into a utility pole. The woman who was shot multiple times is at Onslow Memorial Hospital and so is the suspect. Their conditions are unknown.
