Seven People Sent to Area Hospitals Following a Multi-Car Pileup

Police officers say that a blue truck driving on Daniels Road ran a stop sign and slammed into a Ford Explorer on Queen Street. The force of the impact drove both cars into the oncoming lanes where they hit a postal delivery car and a red passenger vehicle. Officials say that at least one person was flown to Pitt County Memorial Hospital and that the other six were taken to Lenoir Memorial. Officials say the accident was caused by bad breaks. Witnesses say the driver of that pick-up was blowing the horn trying to alert people he was having a problem. Officials don't know if charges will be filed, since the driver of the truck did try to stop.
