Animal Shelters Need Volunteers Desperately

A week ago, two PETA employees were arrested for throwing dead dogs from Bertie and Northampton County animal shelters into a dumpster in another county. As a result Bertie County commissioners voted to sever all ties with PETA. But with that action leaves no one to take care of the animals at the shelter. Bertie County has only one animal control officer for the entire county, who also doubles as litter patrol for the area. Organizers of the Roanoke-Chowan Humane Society hope volunteers come forward or the county hires additional help. Your help could make a huge difference for animals with no home.
