Good News for the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department.

They're putting more deputies on the payroll to help take a bigger bite out of drug crimes. Sheriff Alan Jordan says his department recently received over $200,000 from Beaufort County commissioners to promote and train three currently employed deputies for the drug task force. A fourth deputy will strictly work on issuing subpoenas, which will help free up patrol deputies from that task. Jordan says he's already interviewing potential recruits to fill the three positions left by the promotions.
