It's a First for the Outer Banks

The staff and tenants of Spring Arbor in Kill Devil Hills cut the ribbon on their new home Wednesday. After ten years of planning, the first residential assisted living community for the elderly on the Outer Banks has opened its doors. Director Betsy Kelly says that as a one-time social worker, she saw Dare County's aging population migrating off the Barrier Islands, faced with little choice before now. Right now, Spring Arbor is licensed for a capacity of 72 tenants on a month to month rent basis.
