Seniors Need Fans to Help Beat Heat

The summer heat can take its toll on the strongest of people, let alone the elderly of our area, but there are those trying to help. The Pitt County Council on Aging does "Meals On Wheels" and passes out fans to the elderly during the Summer months. But recent hot temperatures have forced the agency to pass out fans earlier than usual. The council received 100 fans Thursday from Greenville Utilities, because as officials know, without one, a home can feel like a prison.
The heat can take its toll on the emotional and physical well being of a person. Contact the Pitt County Council on Aging if you need a fan this summer or would like to donate one.
