A security breach in one computer hooked into an Internet server is how the information was stolen. The computer was located in the Department of Physician Assistant studies. ECU's Director of Public Affairs, John Durham, says the breach is limited to only students in the department's program, as well as its applicants. The S.B.I. is investigating this matter. The students were given an information packet recommending ways to prevent the fraudulent use of their personal information.
