Hundreds of former and current Family Dollar store managers are in court in Alabama, saying the North Carolina based chain failed to pay them for overtime. The case was filed four years ago and is in its second week of trial. Store managers generally are exempt from federal laws requiring overtime pay for work of more than 40 hours a week. But Family Dollar managers say they had little authority to act as managers, basically making them a regular employee.
