Red Cross Anniversary

The Pitt County chapter of the American Red Cross is celebrating a milestone. Wednesday was the one year anniversary of its Eastern North Carolina Donation Center on Cromwell Drive in Greenville. However, it's not all a celebration. In Pitt County there are six blood types stocked at less than a three day supply. Red Cross officials say that's even more of a threat now that hurricane season has begun. The center will host a donor appreciation day Friday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., where they will host a drawing to win $100 in free gas. Red Cross officials will also give away a one-night stay in Ocracoke, and lots of other door prizes.
