Hospital Pays Millions in Back Overtime

More than 3,400 workers at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington got a little something extra and overdue in their pay envelopes. The hospital paid the group a total of more than $1,330,000 in back wages for unpaid overtime. An investigation by the U.S. Labor Department also determined that one employee was wrongfully terminated despite being covered by a federal law allowing leave for family and medical emergencies.
