Bank of America Location Closing

WITN-7 News has confirmed the Bank of America location on West Main Street in downtown washington is closing, in early September. Company officials tell us the closure is part of a consolidation of 100 low volume locations across the country. They expect most of the downtown Washington business to be moved to the Bank of America location on Carolina Avenue, at Washington Square Mall. Officials say there are five employees affected by the closure, and they believe those employees can be transitioned to other jobs within the Bank of America company. The Bank of America location in Chocowinity closed several years ago. The downtown closure means there will be only one Bank of America location in the Washington area. Records show the building in downtown Washington is owned by a company in Pennsylvania, but there's no word on whether it's a holding company for Bank of America.
