It's still hard for many to comprehend. The severity of the burns a Pitt County woman suffered, after authorities say her boyfriend threw lighter fluid on her and set her on fire. Perlie Nelson was burned all the way down to her bones last Friday. Some of her burned clothes still remain where the incident happened. Doctors say Nelson suffered third and fourth degree burns over 35-percent of her body and has a long and painful road to recovery. Nelson has been upgraded to fair condition. Her boyfriend, 50-year old John Lee Michaels, Junior has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, with intent to kill.
