Fox Shot in Kinston Neighborhood

Video will be available shortly.

One Kinston neighborhood had a bit of a scare earlier this week when a fox that may have had rabies wandered into the area and tried to attack a police officer. Residents of Walston Avenue say they began seeing a fox walking through the neighborhood early Monday morning. Residents say when the fox returned later that morning, the animal was acting strange. A police officer came to check out the fox, and authorities say when the fox spotted the officer it tried to attack. Lawmen say the fox was then shot. Officials say the fox will not be tested for rabies because it never made human contact.
