N.C. Beach Ranks As One of the Best
Hyde County's Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks has been ranked as North America's second-best beach. International beach expert Stephen Leatherman, also known as doctor beach, has been issuing the rankings since 1991. Leatherman makes his picks based on swimming, environmental, management and tourist-friendly criteria. The top ranking goes to historical Fort De Soto's North Beach in Florida.
