A Ferry Route Is Shutting Down for a While

Getting from point A to point B across the Currituck Sound will take a little longer, at least for a while. The North Carolina Department of Transportation Ferry Division is shutting down the Currituck to Knotts Island ferry this Saturday until August 25. Officials are replacing access ramps and bridges at the ferry's terminals on both sides of the Currituck Sound. Traffic will detour from the Currituck courthouse through Virginia and back into Currituck via NC Route 615.
