N.C. Gets High Marks for Preparedness

The state has made concerted efforts to improve its emergency response plan following Hurricane Floyd six years ago. And those efforts are receiving high marks, according to research groups. Officials with the North Carolina Center for Public Health
Preparedness in Chapel Hill says the state has worked hard to prepare for things it knows will happen, such as hurricanes. In December, North Carolina earned the highest score for its emergency-response plan.
