Eastern Carolina authorities are investigating a number of crimes over the weekend. Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies are looking into an armed robbery from late Saturday night. Deputies say around 9:30 Saturday night a lone man walked into the Crossroads Mini-Mart in Blounts Creek off of Highway 33 with a rifle and demanded money. The gunman left the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Beaufort County Sheriff's Deputies.
A traffic stop in Greenville got scary for one officer. Major Kevin Smeltzer with the Greenville Police Department pulled over a car Saturday night on Memorial Drive, when the driver tried hit him with the car. Major Smeltzer suffered only minor injuries. That driver has since been charged with resisting a public officer, and assault with a deadly weapon. Police say the driver was driving while his license was revoked.
And finally Wilson Police say they had some gunshots fired after a street fight on Lee Street Saturday night. Police say that around 9:30, two men were arguing over a girl when things got violent and the men started punching each other. After the fight, police say someone started shooting a gun up into the air. Luckily no one was hurt.
