Billboard for Safety

Saving lives for Washington fire crews doesn't begin when an emergency call is made to the department; but before emergencies happen first responders are finding ways to educate the public to help prevent them.

The Division of Public Health Injury and Violence Prevention Branch has provided funding to the city of Washington's Fire Department to erect a monthly safety billboard centrally located in the city on Market Street just a few feet from the station. Monthly safety messages like May's notation about flotation devices are now on display.

The 12 safety messages will be on display year round for drivers and riders all in an effort to educate and protect.
