From Hog Waste To Drinking Water

For years now, hog farms have come under scrutiny. One of the main problems some people have with these farms centers around hog lagoons. But soon, a new filtration system may eliminate the need for lagoons and even spray fields. Hog waste flows through the system which separates water from the manure. The manure is turned into class "A" fertilizer and the water goes through several filters that sanitize and purify it for drinking. The water is actually given back to the hogs to drink but is also fit for human consumption. The filtration system on the Greene County farm was installed a year ago and the owner says it has worked wonders.
