A mauling in Jones County leaves an 18 month in critical condition at last report. Authorities say the boy, named Kwan, was sitting with his mom on the porch of their home on Simmons Loop Road near Pollocksville Wednesday afternoon, when the dog attacked. Lawmen say the dog somehow got off a chain in the backyard, ran around to the front, and jumped on the boy for no reason. Kwan was flown by East Care to Pitt County Memorial Hospital with severe head injuries. The dog was put down on site and transferred to Kinston to be tested for rabies.
