Good Samaritan Helps Driver

A good samaritan who phoned in an early morning accident could have made the call that saved the life of a person in Pitt County Sunday.

A call was placed to Pitt County 9-1-1 dispatch around 6:30 Sunday morning from the cellular phone of a passer by, stating that a vehicle near the intersection of Joe Stocks and Lester Mills Road had flipped completely over. Within minutes highway patrolmen were on the scene where a reportedly unconscious commuter had been in a single car accident that left their 2005 black Honda Civic up side down.

The driver was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for evaluation, the good samaritan caller is unknown. Lawmen say alcohol played a factor and the driver has been charged with a DUI and reckless driving.
