Brian Roth, the mayor of Plymouth, says his town has been awarded a $9,500,000 grant by the North Carolina Division of Aviation and several corporate and private donors to get the town’s airport off the ground. As it stands the airport can handle flight service from small twin engine air crafts on its 3,700 foot landing strip. The community wants to expand it to 5,500. Roth says the extension would be an economic plus for Plymouth because business planes would be able to fly in and out of town.
