Even after Wednesday's rainfall, much of eastern Carolina is still in a drought.
You may not be able to do anything about the rainfall, but there are ways you can help with the drought. Andy Yakim with Greenville Utilities says everyday household leaks help contribute to the drought problem in eastern Carolina. He urges residents to check their faucets and toilets for leaks.
Yakim says not only can leaks worsen the drought conditions, but also your bottom line. He says persistent leaks can increase a homeowners water bill by 50 percent.
