U.S. Airways Merger

It's a mega deal to save a troubled airline that has service at three Eastern Carolina airports and its largest hub in our state.
U.S. Airways and America West are combining their
operations to create the first nationwide full service low-cost
airline. The new company will operate under the U.S. Airways name and will likely result in layoffs. U.S. Airways flies in and out of Greenville, Jacksonville and New Bern with it's largest hub in Charlotte. The merger news came on the same day airline officials expect the industry as a whole to loose five billion dollars this year.
