Out of thousands of prison volunteers in our state one from Eastern Carolina has been named volunteer of the year. For 25 years Marvin Burley has been passing out bibles and offering a lending ear when inmates at the Greene Correctional Institution in Maury need to talk. Burley says it's not his job to judge these men - but to offer them hope and guidance if the inmates allow them to embrace him into their lives. The inmates we talked with say Burley is an inspiration to them and vice versa. Burley says out of 25 years of volunteering only about five inmates haven't received him very well, a stark contrast to the hundreds of inmates who have welcomed him into their hearts.
