On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
A new aggressive seat belt campaign officially starts next Monday and law enforcement officials say there are "no excuses" for not buckling up. The new campaign is called "Operation Care." It's a nationwide push aimed at getting you and your passengers to wear a seat belt. According to a spokesperson from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, seat belt use across the country is around 80 percent. Troopers say if they ticket you for not wearing a seat belt, consider it a ticket that helped save your life. Violating the law will cost you $100.00 in court costs, a $25.00 fine, plus two points on your license.
