Mother Nature Threw Wrench in Air Show

Officials were hopeful but to no avail, as they were forced to cancel day one of the 2005 Cherry Point Air Show at the Marine Corps Airstation in Havelock thanks to heavy winds and rain.

Winds blew over tents set up to greet spectators, and rain forced the night show to be delayed until Saturday. Officials still had their opening concert although it was moved to Morehead City. Base officials say that Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be gorgeous, and their gates will open at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, and flying will start around 9:45 a.m.
