Did Winds Blow Over Truck?

A truck driver got the scare of a lifetime, as a Nor'easter blew across Topsail Island Friday afternoon.

Fire, rescue and police crews from North Topsail Beach fought 60 mile an hour winds, to get to that truck after it rolled on its side on top of the Highway 210 bridge. The truck came to rest between the guardrails, but 40 feet above the Intracoastal Waterway. The town's deputy fire marshal says there was only a minor diesel fuel spill, that did not get into the water and the truck driver was not seriously hurt

A wrecker had to wait a couple of hours until the winds died down to right that truck, and reopen the beach highway. Local crews say it is the first time that a vehicle has ever been rolled over on that high bridge. A handheld wind gauge measured 60 to 70 mile an hour gusts just after that scary accident.
