A 120 acre fire in Onslow County Is now contained, after crews spent the afternoon battling the massive blaze near Union Chapel Road.
The fire shut down a large stretch of highway 258 for over 3 hours due to safety concerns.

Forest ranger Ricky Adkins says the blaze started this afternoon around 3, and was about 95 percent contained by 630.
Dozens of volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze, from as far away as Duplin County.
The forest service also called in a helicopter to assist.

"It could be a cigarette due to the low humidity today, this is in an area where we had arson last year so we haven't even had time to investigate, the fires be ahead of us the whole step." say Adkins.
Dozens of homes were also evacuated, although no homes sustained damaged. No firefighters were injured in the blaze.
