State troopers believe alcohol may have played a role in a deadly car crash this afternoon in Pitt County.
It happened outside of Grifton.
Troopers say the car being driven by 56-year-old Nathaniel Newborn was speeding down Brown Hodges Road and didn't stop where the road dead ends into Stokestown-Saint Johns Road.
The car went into a cotton field, overturned, and Newborn was thrown from the vehicle.
Troopers say Newborn had just moved to Jacksonville from Texas.
