How Do You Pick the Best Car Seat for Your Child?

Just a few weeks ago, we showed you how the folks at Consumer Reports were concerned about several car seat models. Scientists tested 34 seats, all of which should meet the federal standards that require them to withstand a crash of 30 miles an hour. But some, the Evenflo Portabout Five and the Combi Avatar 8100, did not make the grade when tested using the seat's own latch belts. There is, however, a safe solution for these seats. If you already own one of these seats just use them with a car's seat belt, not with the latch. Consumer Reports also top rated several safety seats.
