Rebate Checks Could Soon Be In The Mail

By  |

The U.S. Senate passed an economic stimulus package Thursday that will mean rebate checks for most taxpayers.

Senators voted overwhelmingly -- 81 to 16 -- in favor of the package.
One-time rebates $600.00 and $1,200 would go to most tax-paying
individuals and families -- according to provisions in the economic rescue
plan.

A $300.00 rebate would go to people who paid no income taxes -- but earned
at least $3,000 in social security or veterans' disability benefits.

The house is expected to act quickly to send the measure to President Bush.
