Police Semi-Automatic Handgun Stolen; Teen Arrested

A Pitt County teen has been charged with breaking into an unmarked police car and stealing a police issue semi-automatic handgun.

Brandon Peaden, 18, of Frog Level Road is charged with breaking and entering of a car, larceny and larceny of a firearm.

Police say Peaden broke into the police car that was parked in the Taberna subdivision on October 18th. Prior to today's news release, Greenville police had not made public that one of their weapons was stolen.

Police say the semi-automatic handgun has not yet been recovered.
