Readying for BRAC

With less than two weeks to go, leaders nationwide are waiting for the list of military bases that could lose or gain in the 2005 base realignment and closings process, also known as BRAC. Lieutenant Governor Beverly Perdue brought the state's preparations for the BRAC to Camp Lejeune in Onslow County Tuesday. Her trip came the same day Governor Mike Easley reports more than 34,000 acres of land has been preserved to stop encroachment around tarheel bases. North Carolinas' military civilian team is up-beat, expecting to gain troops and missions in the BRAC lists on May 16.
