Windmills Stirring Up Controversy

By  |

A Raleigh couple on the verge on cutting edge green-energy technology may have a few hurdles to clear before the project can swirl into place.

The plan is to build three 700 foot tall windmills in the Carteret County town of Bettie. The windmills would connect to power lines and create wind energy. Project organizers Nelson and Diana Paul say they face opposition from residents that want to change the counties height requirements. Windmills are currently exempt from those requirements.

The county scheduled a public hearing on the matter for March 3rd at 6pm.
